14 Jan 10--For the last week and a half, aside from trying to keep warm, we have been doing some little things to try to get ready for our next move. We are leaving here a week from Saturday, on the 23rd of Dec, heading for Texas but not sure of the route just yet. Normally we would go straight I-10, but with that road being historically bad, never mind post-Katrina, we are probably going to go up and around it. We'll see over the next few days.
We also had a hitch attached to the underside of our car, and then went and bought a bike rack to put on it. The rack we used to have attached to the window area in the back of the car worked, but with all the bumping along the roads the straps used to loosen up a little, so we felt we would feel more confident with the bikes attached to a sturdier rack.
And finally, after 5 months of fits and starts, we got our TVs to work correctly. We bought a satellite dish about a month ago because the one that came on top of the RV didn't work very well, but even that didn't solve the problem of being able to get 2 different stations on our 2 TVs at the same time. I won't go in-depth as to all the different problems (I couldn't explain them anyway), but after what seemed like a thousand e-mails to people on escapees.com, numerous phone calls to satellite TV providers, too-many-to-count trips to Home Depot and Lowes, and a few discussions with fellow RVers here in the RV park, Cathy figured out what we needed to buy and how to hook those things up to the DVR box/switch box, etc. Anyone reading this who knows Cathy knows how important her TV is to her (haha), so to finally be able to have 2 TVs with the ability to watch/record 2 different TV shows is a big load off my shoulders!!! (haha)
Cathy's sister Brenda has a nice walk-in shower in her house so she let us give the dogs a bath, which they sorely needed. Look at how pathetic Jabba looks.

When we were down in Orlando we upgraded our water filter system. I was sort of freaking out, not trusting the water systems we were hooking up to, so we went and got 2 filters and hooked them up to each other before hooking them up to the water source and the RV. I am feeling far more confident that I am not drinking God only knows what in these different parks.
Check out this puzzle we bought. Cathy and I used to do puzzles all the time in San Antonio, especially before we bought the sunglass business. We thought once we bought the RV we wouldn't have the space to do them, but check out this, the world's smallest 1000 piece puzzle! I took a picture beside a water bottle and a nickel and dime soyou could see it in relationship to something else. Put together, it is only about 12" by 16".
I understand about the tv. I couldn't stand being without my dvr.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the puzzle.

Along with the Kindle, I think the DVR is the best technology they have come up with in my lifetime!!! haha And once you have it, like we did in Texas, it is hell being without it....I love the pause feature!
