On The Road Again!

23 Aug 2010--Headed out of the Salt Lake City/Ogden area today for a drive of about 250 miles to Moab, UT. We were surprised, as we headed south about 70 miles through Provo, to see the amount of smog almost obliterating the mountains surrounding us. Yesterday we had gale-force winds, so we think that the combination of that, all the mining that goes on here, and that a lot of the population centers are in valleys leads to what I think is the filthiest air I have ever seen. I took these pics at around 11 AM this morning...pretty bad, huh?

Utah is practically nothing but a vast wasteland, a pretty wasteland, but a wasteland nonetheless. You can drive for what seems like hundreds of miles and see nothing but mountains. The best part is how different the mountains are as you progress from west to east, and the fact that you can see them is a plus! If you click on these pics you will see that most of the mountains look nothing like the previous set of mountains; different colors and shapes throughout the state!

We will be staying in Moab for the next 7 nights, at the OK RV Park, and going to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks from here. The RV Park area itself is pretty...the stitch pic is the scenery directly across from the entrance to the park, and then the next pic is as you look out the back of the Park.

Going to Arches tomorrow, so stay tuned!!!

  2. the smog actually makes the mountains look mysterious. I love the look. I wish I was still seeing these mountains with you. They are truly amazing. I love the pic where the road appears to do thru the mountain like a path. I love path pics.

    Miss ya both.
    Lots of Love, Marie
