Lake Powell Boat Trip!

14 Sep 2010--Took a boat tour today, starting at the Wahweap Marina and then up to and thru the Antelope Canyon area of Lake Powell. This is the boat we were on.

A couple stitch pics before we take off. This is the view looking out from the marina. Notice that all these "boats" are really house boats. They are really pretty big! Some of them, probably most of them, are rental boats, and go for about $5000 a week.

All set to go! 95 degrees, but a beautiful breeze, and no humidity!

Needless to say, the scenery is gorgeous here. What is surprising is how narrow the passageways are for the tour boats. My hat is off to the boat captain for not slamming into some of these walls...how he got us between these rocks is beyond me.

Look how small these regular boats look in the water...they are dwarfed by their surroundings!
Love these rocks!

Heading back.

Debarking, and a last look back at the bay!

Took these stitch pics on the side of the bay that the boat didn't take us. How beautiful, huh?

  2. That's funny Hallie..Cathy said the same thing. For those of you who don't know, the orange boat is the Redneck boat.

  3. Paula the boat ride appears to agree with you. You look more relaxed than when you are climbing rocks. More scenic than the Spirit of Boston's Harbor Cruise.
Is the lady in the blue shirt "Karen Ripperda" looking to be discovered on your blog???

  5. In some photos the water looks blue and choppy and others it looks green and serene! Just like the rocks many different looks. The different colors and lines in the mountains are beautiful. Seemed like a nice relaxing day.
    Who is "Karen Ripperda"???

  9. Have you ever thought about including a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and everything.
However just imagine if you added some great pictures or
video clips to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this
website could certainly be one of the best in its field.
    Wonderful blog!
