Deadwood

26 Jun 2010--Went to Deadwood late this afternoon for a little gambling, dinner, and then a little gambling again.

We went with a couple of new friends, Carol and John, that we actually met when we were in Wyoming. Believe it or not they also come from the San Antonio area, and they left Wyoming the same day we did to come here. John is retired from the Air Force, while Carol is a retired dental administrator.

Deadwood is an old west town where Wild Bill Hickock was killed. If you enlarge this picture you can read a sign that says this is the spot he was killed at.

Cathy played the slot machines...all of $3.00 worth when she hit for $191.00!!! All she bet was a quarter to win that, so she was ahead right off the bat. I mostly played blackjack, and I actually broke even, so I consider that a win!

This restaurant/casino is owned by Kevin Costner and has a lot of his movie memorabilia in it, from movie posters to some of the wardrobe from his movies. The outfits here were from Dances with Wolves.

A couple times a day they have a gunfight out in the street...I thought the kids would like a little footage.

The Gunfight!

I would have come out a dollar ahead with my gambling, but Cathy blew it here it on the last slot machine going out the door. haha

  1. Relaxation and sightseeing. Looked good. It's amazing to me how much western life style is around and revered. It's cool.

  4. No sightings of Kevin...I think he just rakes in the money, because the lady in the gift shop said he hadn't been there in about a year a half. But it was fun, so that was OK.
